Many of our most celebrated creative geniuses such as Vincent van Gogh, Robin Williams and Virginia Woolf experienced periods of mental illness. Today mounting research shows these two extremes of the human mind really are linked.  But, what role does creativity play for those of us experiencing a mental health condition today?   Do these icons of art, media and literature provide inspiration to those of us experiencing conditions like depression OCD or Bipolar or can they seem like the elite who sit apart from the rest of us?

Theme: Creative Minds

What role has creativity played in your life and experiences of your own metal health? Have you discover a side of yourself you didn’t know you had through exploring music, art or writing? Who or what was pivotal in getting your started?  How has having a creative outlet helped or provided difficulties, whether it be singing, blogging or poetry?    What was your experience growing up with mental illness and creativity? Did you witness parents or siblings going through productive times and turbulent times and how did these experiences change you?
