True storytelling - Migration
Monday 20th February
19:30
On this evening Spark has teamed up with the Migration Collective in order to open up the mic for stories of migration. Integral to Migration Collective is the pursuit to broaden our understanding of migration and migrants, to facilitate a dialogue, and ultimately to challenge the negative rhetoric of migration.
The stories tonight will be a mix of stories from the audience (you) and stories from handpicked storytellers. In addition the evening will be accompanied by a photography exhibition: ‘Portraits of Migration’, an exhibition that will seek to show the people of Brixton in a different light and look behind the facades.
And there’s more: The night collides with One Day Without Us. One Day Without Us is a national day of action by and in support of migrants in the UK and also coincides with the UN World Day of Social Justice.
Lot’s of good stuff to think about, so please come on down to Brixton and listen to the stories on migration, or maybe even tell your own.
As always, remember: the stories have to be true and have happened to you.
